Cowabunga Dude!
Yes, I was of the ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ era.. but this phrase is way more awesome coming from a grinning 3-year-old son-of-a-surfer. Trust me on this.
Waco, Texas. That was the destination of our most recent adventure earlier this month. Not because of Chip & Jo (oh believe me, that would’ve been My only reason for going to Waco). But Surprise! There is actually a pretty stinking sweet (or should a say, “So totally awesome”) Surf Park in Waco. Surfing. In Waco, Texas!
Christian and I decided to drive down, so he could have access to the camper/changing station. Which meant 18+ hours of driving. Thankfully, we chose to split it into 2 nine hour days. So for this trip we spent 4 days driving and 2 days in Southern Surf Heaven.
That drive is not one I’d care to experience again any time soon (anyone invent teleportation yet? anyone?). The silver (or should I say, Snowy) lining was the drive through Minnesota, oh for beauty! It was like we were driving through a snow globe. Every tree was covered with a perfect dusting of snow and ice – If you live in MN, I’m sure you would’ve seen it. It was so beautiful. We didn’t take any pictures other than a quick selfie:
Christian has a surfer buddy (also entrepreneur/ inventor of a brilliant product called: Control Leash https://www.controlleash.com/control-leash – dog lovers might want to check that out #ShamelessPlugForAProductIActuallyThinkIsAwesome) who asked us to meet him there to do some filming. He and a couple other surfer dudes were there to enjoy some fun-in-the-December-sun and utilize the uniqueness of a wave pool.
You see, this wave pool is some crazy technology. Instead of waiting and waiting and waiting for a surfable wave (cough cough.. Lake Superior…cough..) A wave pool generates surfable wave, after surfable wave, after surfable wave. Something like 140-160 waves per hour! (even us non-surfer types are thinking.. “Yo. Dude. That’s sick!”). And our favorite Photographer, was there to capture all the video and stills his little heart desired.
It really was so much fun to witness. We met some super cool Surfer Dudes and Chicks. Christian fit so seamlessly into the surf crowd, it made it really fun to experience alongside him. I’m no surfer, I have no intention of risking life and limb in said fashion, watching was all the intensity I could handle. BSR Surf Resort: https://www.bsrcablepark.com/bsr-surf-resort/ It’s an interesting place to be. And while Christmas music definitely loses a little something when you’re getting a suntan in 80+ degree weather, we got our fill of Bing, Nat, Etta and Andy and a slight sunburn to go with it.
How’s life going for you this winter? Hope you’re enjoying life and finding your own adventures.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Remember to watch out for Reindeer 😉

Love it! So fun to follow your adventures – only you could make Waco sound like a place I’d want to go. ;P
