    Life Lessons From Christian Dalbec

We need a catchier title. Christian says profound things all the time. But I haven’t been able to stop thinking about yesterday. (Like literally couldn’t sleep last night.. grrr.) Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hanging out at Sivertson’s Gallery in Grand Marais, MN. As part of the Moose Madness festival, Christian was there and gave a presentation to talk a little about his work and process. It was a wonderful time, we love the folks at Sivertson’s. That’s not the part that stuck in my head though. It was the drive. Over an hour and a half one way, we were treated to the most intense fall colors I…

Happy New Year, New Sale & Happy Birthday To The Photographer!

Christian and Kara here.. We hope your year is getting off to a great start! We feel like we haven’t seen anyone in so long.. being tucked away and focused on building the house. It’s been a challenge to get out there. Photography and adventures have taken a bit of a back seat. Thankfully this cold winter has allowed for a little rest time. We hope to have our new home gallery ready for visitors this summer! The Photographer did find some time for a couple “quick dips” in the Lake 🙂 Happy Birthday, Photographer! Today (January 2nd) – I get to celebrate the birth of the grooviest dude I’ve…

    We Miss you!

I thought I’d drop a little note to let you know of an upcoming event.. Have you heard of the Lake Superior 20/20 Studio & Art Tour? It takes place next weekend (September 23rd- 25th) Fri-Sat:10am-6pm and Sun:10am-5pm, there are many different studios and locations on the tour – all worth checking out. You can see the full tour info here. Christian Dalbec Photography will be a guest artist at a really cool local farm: Boreal Bounty Farm (address: 7221 Laine Road, Two Harbors, MN). As many of you know, the Photographer and I have been a little busy lately. We also haven’t had a studio. So if you can…

    Festival of Sail

As you may have heard.. our little town was taken over this weekend by an interesting event. The Festival of Sail – previously known as The Tall Ships Festival and hosted in Duluth years past. The Photographer and I decided to make a day of it. We packed a healthy lunch (ok fine.. I also made lemon bars – but I use half the sugar!) and loaded up a cooler of water. The Knife River Boat launch (apparently a public launch) was a stunning start. (I kid you not, it looked exactly like Sweden). We floated/ motor-boated to Two Harbors from Knife River. And then we saw them. The tall…

    The Adventure Of A Lifetime – pt.1

What have the Dalbec’s been up to? Well… quite a bit actually. We’re building our dream – literally! I created this semi-hidden blog post as a way to provide an update to those who care about the non-photography related adventures. We haven’t posted everything to social media (execept maybe to “stories”). You might remember me mentioning our dreams of building a new house for us. Well, were deep into that journey now. Having sold the “old” house so we could actually afford to build a new one has been crazy in and of itself. But, if you’re curious. Here a little snap shot of where we are: This is the…

    Cowabunga Dude!

Yes, I was of the ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ era.. but this phrase is way more awesome coming from a grinning 3-year-old son-of-a-surfer. Trust me on this. Waco, Texas. That was the destination of our most recent adventure earlier this month. Not because of Chip & Jo (oh believe me, that would’ve been My only reason for going to Waco). But Surprise! There is actually a pretty stinking sweet (or should a say, “So totally awesome”) Surf Park in Waco. Surfing. In Waco, Texas! Christian and I decided to drive down, so he could have access to the camper/changing station. Which meant 18+ hours of driving. Thankfully, we chose to…

    Oh Fount Of Joy

I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables Hej there! How are ya?! That quote sure gets used a lot this time of year, but man, do I feel it. I guess we should learn to be thankful for every month but the fall season is definitely one of my favorites. The colors, the smells, the crisp air, the warm cozy sweaters, we are officially entering Introvert season and I am so ready. One reason the Photographer and I are ready for the chill out time, is how busy we have been. But you know what, as busy as we…

I Love To Walk In The Rain

Well hello there.. I know it’s been awhile. Ok maybe a long while. But Hej! Hi! We’re here together again! A brief-ish update on our life: we’ve been living it. A less brief-ish update: I don’t know man. We’ve been busy and working and cooking and trying to catch up. I can’t really say why I haven’t posted on here for so long.. I guess I don’t know why. I want this space to be fun, quirky and a behind-the-scenes look at our life, not just noise, so maybe that’s part of it. The other part might just be that my “creative energy” or whatever has been directed to other…
