My Place In This World
Christian’s recent post (10/3/25 in the morning to be precise) got me thinking… He and I have had many conversations about so many of the songs we’ve recently been inspired by. We’ve laughed at lyrics that so totally fit something we’ve been going through. We’ve cried when a song we’ve heard a hundred times suddenly hits different. This particular post of his, he originally was using Forrest Frank’s new ‘Lemonade’ song (Absolutely awesome song – helps create all the good feels – please listen to it after you read this 😉) but listening to the radio this morning, For King + Country came on and they played ‘My Place In…

I Have A Story For You
Don’t worry… it’s a happy story. 🙂 A long long time ago… in a galaxy far far away… (…it was right there…) Anyway, you might want to grab a box or two of kleenex and we’ll dive right in. This story is about our favorite Photographer. As many or most of you know, he was adopted. Christian’s story was always “I was adopted at 6 months old and brought to the North Shore by my adoptive parents, Darlene & Giles.” He did have a really good life with them, he was loved, cared for etc. But as I’m sure you could sense if you’ve heard his story, there was a…

At Home In The Woods
Hey there! How’s it going? I know it’s been way too long since I’ve shown up in your inbox. Definitely my bad. But if you’ll hang in there, I hope to be visiting more often. What’s been happening? Well let me give you the briefest summary: We moved in to our DIY home. It took us 2 years, but we managed to build our dream house in the woods. That meant, for two years, the Photographer became the Builder and his Follower became the Tax Preparer. (???) Yep. That’s us. Always evolving and growing. Now that it feels like we’re settling in, it felt like the right time to write.…

Life Lessons From Christian Dalbec
We need a catchier title. Christian says profound things all the time. But I haven’t been able to stop thinking about yesterday. (Like literally couldn’t sleep last night.. grrr.) Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hanging out at Sivertson’s Gallery in Grand Marais, MN. As part of the Moose Madness festival, Christian was there and gave a presentation to talk a little about his work and process. It was a wonderful time, we love the folks at Sivertson’s. That’s not the part that stuck in my head though. It was the drive. Over an hour and a half one way, we were treated to the most intense fall colors I…

Happy New Year, New Sale & Happy Birthday To The Photographer!
Christian and Kara here.. We hope your year is getting off to a great start! We feel like we haven’t seen anyone in so long.. being tucked away and focused on building the house. It’s been a challenge to get out there. Photography and adventures have taken a bit of a back seat. Thankfully this cold winter has allowed for a little rest time. We hope to have our new home gallery ready for visitors this summer! The Photographer did find some time for a couple “quick dips” in the Lake 🙂 Happy Birthday, Photographer! Today (January 2nd) – I get to celebrate the birth of the grooviest dude I’ve…

The Adventure Of A Lifetime – pt.1
What have the Dalbec’s been up to? Well… quite a bit actually. We’re building our dream – literally! I created this semi-hidden blog post as a way to provide an update to those who care about the non-photography related adventures. We haven’t posted everything to social media (execept maybe to “stories”). You might remember me mentioning our dreams of building a new house for us. Well, were deep into that journey now. Having sold the “old” house so we could actually afford to build a new one has been crazy in and of itself. But, if you’re curious. Here a little snap shot of where we are: This is the…

A Cure For The Winter Blues
The sun is lazily stretching above the horizon and a gentle breeze picks up, blowing a few flakes of snow in front of the sun so it looks like glitter, sparkling all around in a magical just-for-you snow globe.
