It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Sunrise

A follower’s perspective This morning started like every other morning.. Don’t these days feel an awful lot like the movie “Groundhog’s Day?” Every day we stay at home, chat with our phone friends, do our daily work, maybe drink too much coffee and get jittery and wish we could go literally anywhere but the next room, make dinner/ eat at some point, and eventually lay our head down upon that wonderful creation known as a pillow so we can hopefully sleep after all the coffee and then start this same day all over again! Whew! Living the same day over and over again (even writing that) is exhausting! But like…

    Good People, Badlands…

Explore it. Adore it. Medora, ND Our calendar as of late has looked awful busy.. It’s been simultaneously exciting and draining. We had a blast on the Keweenaw Peninsula (maybe that will be another blog post.. who knows.), we had the chance to connect and meet with many wonderful people in the Two Harbors Studio and more recently (as you might have noticed from the abundance of Bison pictures..) we toured the North Dakota Badlands, specifically Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Oof da, yo. There were times I couldn’t even take it. My man captured some amazing photos, as did our photog friends we were with on this trip. But for…

    When The Passionate Create

That includes you. About the above image… I hesitated to share this picture of me from after a day of paddling around our Lake, but it just feels so raw and real and US. I want to be raw and real and US. So there is the (fabulous) NA beer we drink, with the (phenomenal) kayak/ paddle board brand we love, but there is also Me goofing around, being real. Christian and I have fun, that’s what we do. We have this beautiful life together because we know how to laugh. Sometimes teamwork requires loads of laughs.. just sayin’. Recently, I have had the privileged of observing an extraordinary amount…

    In The Wee Small Hours..

..of the morning. When the whole wide world is fast asleep… you can bet there is a photographer out there somewhere, chasing the ever-rising light. The Photographer and I recently spent a couple nights at his parents cabin -except we stayed in the camper to get used to the new set up. 😉 It was a pretty sweet deal, we knew we had the safety of being on “our land” and also knew we could run into the cabin if the weather or camper fever got too crazy. I enjoyed our little mini trips. It was a good escape from the crazy traffic and busyness of town. Christian, of course,…

A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood

And we don’t get to see our neighbors. It’s a whole new world and a new way of living. Here in Minnesota, we’re under a ‘Shelter in Place’ order. Which means no work for non-essential companies. I get it. And we don’t go to an office or hang out in public places. We are taking every precaution. Christian avoids people. He never goes in buildings. He stays outside and in the lake. We have his extremely high-risk parents to consider and care for right now. We are cleaning, sanitizing and avoiding everything and everyone. We are taking this very seriously. That being said, I know that Christian’s work is more…

    When Peace Like A Wave..

It is ‘swell. I’m not sure how any of you have been feeling lately, but I feel just a bit overwhelmed by life. I have recently made the decision that I’m over this anxiety and I am determined to create a place for peace in my life. I am crazy lucky to have the opportunity to experience peace from beauty. Do you know what I mean by that? It’s that feeling you get when you look up at a sky full of stars, or when you hike for 2 hours up a mountain only to stop and take in the rolling hills. Or if you journey to Cascade River or…

    Anatomy Of A Wave

The science you didn’t know you wanted to know. You may have seen some of my recent adventures Following The Photographer to Split Rock Lighthouse: While I was shivering on shore (and blissfully happy) I spent a good amount of time watching the waves. I’ve always had favorite wave images and tried to share them with you. Breathing it all in recently, I realize why I love those certain waves. I see the full movement of the wave and that one moment The Photographer captured. So, without getting too Geeky-freaky I will attempt to describe wave formations and use some interesting images in the process. Wave-making 101: On Lake Superior…

    Adventure Bug

Adventurers Without An Adventure I have been wracking my brain trying to come up with some sort of blog post. At first I thought I needed a Merry Christmas thing… maybe Season’s Greetings… or maybe now Happy New Year. I don’t know. Truth is, I haven’t felt so inspired. I feel house-bound and agitated. We had maybe one fun drive this past month and absolutely no exploring. I mean, we’ve done a lot this year. A lot. And I am thankful for every single minute of our adventures. But with multiple vehicle issues, the camper unfinished (which means no room for “following”) December has been kind of a bummer, not…

    What we’ve been up to

When the weather outside is -photographically?- frightful.. It has been an interesting few weeks in Casa de Dalbec. We have been so crazy busy it’s hard to even think at times… believe me when I say, I’m not the kind of person who associates busy-ness with success. In fact, it’s not even the fun kind of busy (with adventures, waves and mayhem and intrigue on the high seas.) We’ve been busy with lame stuff… like fixing multiple vehicles… and trying to upgrade a camper that has (all too quickly) gone well over-budget. While trying not to go too crazy, I’ve been tackling some house projects that I feel entirely unqualified…

    Happily Ever Following

Gushy Anniversary Post – Sorry, Not Sorry It’s November 7th, 2019. Exactly one year of forever following my photographer. So if you’re the weak-stomach type around affectionate lovey-dovey posts, feel free to skip this one. (But please don’t give up on me entirely!) One year. Yikes. In some ways, it feels like we were just married yesterday. But it also feels like we’ve been together forever. Just when I think I know everything there is to know about my man, I learn something brand-spankin’ new. I did a ‘What you my not know about the man’ type Instagram post before.. including little factoids like: Christian likes his eggs over-hard; Coke,…
